Michelle Brown-Alford

Owner, MA, LPC, NCE

Relationships begin with building
a rapport with the client to create
an atmosphere of unconditional
positive regard. Now what
exactly does that mean? It means “being genuine without judgement and prejudice.” I am Michelle Brown-Alford and I would like to tell you a little bit about how
I work. I like to begin each of my sessions by approaching my clients with a down to earth let’s get to know each other attitude. One of my primary goals during our sessions is to get my clients to begin taking the steps to solve the problems that will allow them to develop healthier and more satisfying lifestyles. You may get a stern talking to from me but do not let that scare you because you will also get humorous stories and lessons that will help you look at and think about life. This is one of the ways I communicate with those who are seeking my help and guidance. My primary theoretical method is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because I truly believe that change starts with the way people think. I am fully aware that one size does not fit all and that one client may need something different than the other, so I use aspects of various theories to get you walking down the right path. You are the author of your life and together, we can strive to work on those chapters that need to be rewritten. I want to empower you to pick up the pen, draw from your inner resources and write the life you want. I am a skilled therapist with expertise in working with adults, couples, families, children (7-11), and adolescents (12 and above). Furthermore, I am culturally sensitive to the diverse needs of my clients. I do not handle any disability cases.
